Immerse yourself in the oldest living culture on earth
Our culture is a living culture. Come with us to hear the little lore stories. These are the very beginning stories of our Ngurrumpa (our camp world) as given to us by our Elders. Far from being 'myth' these stories teach us how we should be and relate to all things around us.
Wollombi has been, for millennia, an important meeting place, to which Aboriginal people would travel great distances for trade, social intercourse, and ceremony.
The focus of these ceremonial gatherings was, and still is, Mount Yengo, every bit as sacred to the peoples of the East as Uluru to those of the Centre. From Yengo's summit Baiame, one of the primary creative forces, stepped back into the skyworld after life had been created and the Lore set in place.
To ensure that this Lore would not be forgotten, Baiame's final act was to carve it in stone. We would like to share some of the story of these engraving sites with you.
What day do you want to join us for the start of a lifelong learning journey?
Sharing is at the heart of what we do. But don't just take our word for it...
I just wanted to say thank you so much for everything that you've done to make this week so special. For me, it was a real 'line in the sand' experience - it felt like a real start of a journey for me in terms of taking the first baby steps toward understanding First Australian culture, history and people - and even redefining for me what it means to be an Australian.
For me personally it was a real catalyst for my slow-burning thoughts about what I can do as a parent to increase the awareness and understanding of Aboriginal experience and culture in my boys, so that they grow into men with a deeper appreciation of the real history of our country and what we can all learn from that experience and culture.
We learn from great teachers and great teachers share deep and meaningful experiences. Leanne shared her stories with us and showed us incredibly scared places i was incredibly moved by the experience and highly recommend spending time with Leanne on one of her guided live long journey's.
